CH Fitness and Performance fosters and promotes a Youth Development Program with the purpose of promoting weightlifting as a safe, healthy and fun fitness activity, and to offer youth-age athletes, 12 years of age and up.
Weightlifting is SAFE for youth athletes! The following medical associations have accepted weight training for children as a safe and effective mode of exercise:
National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA)
American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP)
American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS)
American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM)
American Medical Society for Sports Medicine (AMSSM)
American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine (AOSSM)
American Osteopathic Academy of Sports Medicine (AOASM)
American Academy of Pediatricians (AAP).
Individualized programs are provided for each youth athlete based on their weightlifting experience.
Our two assistant coaches for the youth development program work directly with the athletes to ensure lifts are performed safely and accurately. The assistant coaches guide the youth athletes through a group warm-up before each session begins. The session begins with reviewing the individual's program to ensure it is applicable. Instruction and demonstration of the programmed lifts is provided. All movement is supervised and corrected as needed. The assistant coaches are overseen by head coach Cara.
Through our competition team CHFP Weightlifting, youth-age athletes have the opportunity to compete locally, regionally and at various national competitions including the National Youth Championships (U17) and the National Junior Championships (U20). Additionally, several CHFP athletes have been selected as members of Team USA to compete internationally at the Youth Pan American Championships, the Youth World Championships, the Junior Pan American Championships and the Junior World Championships.
No Weightlifting experience is needed. Book a Weightlifting Assessment with one of our Coaches today.
